Decadent chocolate cake layered with a rich cheesecake center, tart cherries, and finished with a cherry glaze and whipped topping — the ultimate showstopper dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1 can (21 oz / 595g) cherry pie filling

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

  • Remaining cherry pie filling
  • Whipped cream, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-cup Bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, beat together cake mix, eggs, oil, and water until well combined (about 2 minutes). Fold in half of the cherry pie filling gently and set batter aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Pour half of the chocolate batter into the Bundt pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over it, avoiding the edges.
  4. Add the remaining batter over the cream cheese filling. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate and cool completely. Spoon the remaining cherry pie filling over the top. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure your cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps.
  • For a richer flavor, add 1 teaspoon almond extract to the batter or topping.
  • Chill before slicing for perfect layers.
