Ingredients

Scale

For the Churro Dough:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil (like sunflower or canola)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

For Frying:

  • Neutral oil, for deep frying

For the Strawberry Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp freeze-dried strawberries, finely crushed

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour all at once until a thick dough forms.

  3. Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  4. Pipe heart shapes onto small squares of parchment paper.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Carefully lower each heart into the oil, parchment side up (remove paper with tongs once it loosens).
  6. Fry 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Mix granulated sugar and crushed freeze-dried strawberries in a shallow dish.
  8. Toss warm churros in the strawberry sugar until fully coated. Serve immediately.
